This watercolor lavender border scarf is inspired by 2 things: aromatic plants and classical botanical illustration, wall charts and the Old World books on botany from traveling botanical art masters.
The border features a quote by the Swedish botanist Carl (Carolus) Linnaeus, the creator of binary nomenclature for naming living organisms: “A herbarium is better than any illustration; every botanist should make one.”
Hand-painted in watercolor and complemented by an elegant script font with Latin botanical names of the plants – presented in the manner introduced by Linnaeus! E.g. Lavandula angustifolia – the English lavender.
